Baw Baw

Architecture: Wood + Day Partnership

Stage: Completed 2018

Builder: Owner

Location: Baw Baw, New South Wales

Standard: Passivhaus Standard (non – certified) A modest yet comfortable house custom designed for its two occupants, this house is situated on a rural property exposed to the winds and classified as a BAL19 bushfire site. Airtightness is important in most houses but particular so with houses on exposed sites.

In this house a standard 90mm timber stud frame is used with Intello air membrane and foam/batts for insulation and a SIP roof.

Triple glazed windows are used throughout.  They were supplied by Logikhaus and the frames are made of pine with an aluminium outer skin.

French doors open out onto the garden and allow lots of northerly winter sun to heat up the insulated slab.

The exterior is clad with colourbond for its low maintenance and fire resistance properties.
